PURPOSE
The purpose of the Society is to maintain an elementary school for the daily instruction of the children of the members, such instruction to be in accordance with Article 2 and the provincial standards and directed toward the end that the children may serve as Christians in society, church and state. As well, that the school may be of Christian service to the local community, church and society.
MEMBERSHIP
1. To be eligible for membership in the Orillia Christian School Society, the following requirements must be met:
a) The signing of a statement expressing agreement with Articles 2 and 3 of the By-Law, which are also the basis and purpose of the Society, being its constitution.
b) The paying of the contribution as yearly set at and by the annual Membership Meeting and in no case less than $100.00 per year or $8 per month.
2. Members shall seek the moral and financial support of the congregation of which he is a member.
3. Membership includes the privilege of voting at the meetings of the Society as well as readiness to participate in activities on behalf of the school, entered into by the Society.
4. That the husband and wife of the same family shall be considered as separate members for all voting purposes and shall, therefore, each has a full vote. If one parent only has signed and is in agreement with Article 2, then only that parent may vote at meetings of the Society.
5. Membership dues are as follows: Single = $100 per year; Family = $150 per year. In a Family Membership 2 adults of 18 years of age or over will each have one vote. Membership dues are payable on or before September 1st annually.
6. As a prerequisite for the admission of a student to the Orillia Christian School, at least one parent will be a member of the Society. Exceptions, such as in the case of sponsorship of a student by someone other than the parents might be granted by special permission of the Board, provided that the sponsor, if an individual, is a member of the Society. All admissions to the school shall be in accordance with the Admissions Policy.
Associate Membership:
An associate member is one who is interested in maintaining contact with the Orillia Christian School and Society and supportive of their activities but, for a variety of reasons, is unable to pursue active membership. Dues for an associate member shall be $50 for an individual, $75 for a family membership of 2 adults over 18 years of age.
Associate members are not eligible to vote at membership meetings, but are welcome to express their views; nor are they eligible to serve on the OCSS Board or its committees. Inability to fulfill the financial requirements will not preclude associate membership in the OCSS. Associate members will be kept informed of the activities of the Orillia Christian School and Society on a regular basis.
Corporate Sponsorship:
A corporate sponsorship is designed for a company or business approved by the Orillia Christian School Society Board and informed of the aims and purposes of the Orillia Christian School, that wishes to donate funds to OCS for a variety of purposes: for example, the student sponsorship program, building program, etc. Corporate sponsors are not bound by membership responsibilities and privileges. Tax receipts will be issued.
